Damian Sanchez is a Junior Specialist in the UCSF VASC lab. He recently graduated with a BS in Molecular and Cell Biology from UC Merced. He has an extensive experience with computer science and his prior research focused on applying phylogenetic methodologies to derive the evolutionary history of several organisms. He is now using this prior computational experience to deduce causative mechanisms in vascular malformations with single-cell sequencing. He seeks to attain a medical degree to become a neurologist. Outside of the lab, he enjoys spending time with family, playing basketball, and staying involved with his community.
